Description
The Thai Media Policy Advocacy Center is a non-profit body, initially a collaboration between the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University and Internews Network, an international NGO that has worked in more than 70 countries around the world to improve access to information and to promote open communications policies. Our aim is to be a center for media law and policy for Thailand. Thai MPAC is built on the conviction that the rule of law and policy for public interest are vital to the existence of free and independent media as well as an informed citizenry. As an emerging democracy, Thailand still lacks a legal infrastructure that would allow its media to fulfill the “watchdog” role and the larger public to defend their freedom of expression. As the country is at the crossroads of media reform, Thai MPAC intends to play an integral role on advocacy as well as research programs related to legislations and policies affecting mass media and communications in Thailand and abroad.
