Abstract
This article explores how new communications technologies, such as Direct Broadcast Satellite and the Internet are straining traditional approaches to defining localism and applying the principle in communications policy contexts. This article explores the implications of the proliferation of national- and global-reach media technologies and whether localism as a policy principle has any applicability in such contexts.
