Description

The School of Communications at Universidad Catolica (UC) is the most
reputed in the country, both in research and teaching (www.uc.cl). Its new
8-storey building was inaugurated in 2000 at the venerable Central Campus
of UC (founded in 1888), in Santiago's downtown.
WIP-Chile is developed by the schools of Communications and Sociology,
which were recently joined by the School of Engineering's Centre of
Information Technology Studies (CETI-UC). WIP-Chile started with a first
research grant from the National Fund of Science and Technology (FONDECYT)
for the period 2003-2004. A new FONDECYT endowment was won by the research
team for the period 2005-2008, which expanded the scope of the project from
Chileans's everydaylife to businesses and the economy (Business and
Information Technology Project, BIT, which is complementary to WIP). Since
its beginnings, WIP-Chile has the support of the Santiago Chamber of
Commerce, a local authority in the digital economy.
WIP Chile is headed by professor Sergio Godoy (sgodoye@puc.cl), specialised
on communications management.
