Biography

Robert Cannon is Senior Counsel for Internet Law in the Federal Communication Commission's Office of Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis (formerly the Office of Plans and Policy). Prior to this position, he was Deputy Director of the FCC's Y2K Task Force. He is also the Founder and Director of the Cybertelecom , a not for profit educational project focused on federal Internet law and policy. Robert moderates the Cybertelecom-l listserv and edits the e-newsletter Cybertelecom News.

Robert was the Program Committee Chair for the 2003 & 2004 Telecommunications Policy Research Conference. He was guest co-editor of the Telecommunications Policy journal's special TPRC edition for 2004 & 2005. Once upon a time he was Legal Columnist for Boardwatch Magazine. He has spoken at numerous Internet conferences and has been published in several books, journals and magazines. He was the creator and co-chair of the Federal Communication Bar Association's Online Communications Committee. He was awarded a Presidential Award for his work on Y2K and the Lone Star Award from the Texas ISP Association. In 1993, he completed a judicial clerkship with Judge Steffen Graae in D.C. Superior Court
