Description

The Oxford Internet Institute is a department within the Social Sciences Division of the University of Oxford. It is a leading world centre for the multidisciplinary study of the Internet and society, focusing on Internet-related research and education that will shape policy and practice. Founded in 2001 with core funding from The Shirley Foundation and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Institute's mission is 'to become the world's leading independent centre of excellence in academic research on the impact of the Internet on society, and in informing policy and generating debate'.
