Description
The Department of Media and Communications at Goldsmiths is one of the UK's leaders in the field of media theory and media practice. The theoretical and empirical research of our staff is recognised as having been at the forefront of media and cultural studies for the past two decades, and is the focus of a thriving research and postgraduate community. The most recent RAE (Research Assessment Exercise) in December 2001, awarded the Department a 5* rating in recognition of the national and international excellence of its research.
Goldsmiths is a lively and challenging place to study Media and Communications. We recognise the importance of supporting learning with high quality teaching. We were awarded an excellent mark (22/24) by a team from the national Quality Assurance Agency whose task it is to assess teaching and learning in universities. This is one of the best marks awarded to a university Media and Communications Department in Britain.
