Biography
Juan Carlos De Martin, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Information Engineering at the Politecnico of Torino, Italy. His research focus is on multimedia processing and transmission. Between 1993 and 1995 Dr. De Martin was a Visiting Scholar at the Signal Compression Laboratory of the University of California, Santa Barbara. Between 1996 and 1998 he was a Member of Technical Staff at Texas Instruments' Media Technologies Laboratory in Dallas, USA. Between 1998 and 2005 he was a researcher at the Institute of Electronics and Information and Telecommunications Engineering (IEIIT) of the National Research Council (CNR) in Torino, where he led the research group on multimedia communications. Juan Carlos De Martin is the author of over 70 international scientific publications and of several patents. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE); he is also a member of the IEEE Multimedia Communications and of the IEEE Signal Processing Education Technical Committees. Dr. De Martin is an Expert Evaluator of Research Programs for the Italian Ministry of University and Research and for the Ministry of Productive Activities.
