Biography
Joel Kelsey is a policy advocate for Consumers Union, the non-profit publisher of Consumer Reports, working out of the Yonkers and Washington, D.C. offices. He manages the grassroots component of Consumers Union’s media reform and telecommunications work and provides support on other key campaigns. He is responsible for working on media and telecommunications policy with state and federal policy makers, community leaders and citizen activists throughout the country. Since joining Consumers Union in 2006, he has organized and testified at many Federal Communications Commission Hearings on media consolidation, and developed several state legislative campaigns on video franchising proposals. Prior to joining Consumers Union, he served as chairperson for the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) and later worked as NYPIRG’s New York City outreach director, and then as statewide campaigns coordinator. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
