Jennifer Bevan is a Senior Lecturer in the Annenberg School for Communication. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she is on leave for the 2006-2007 academic year. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in communication from the University of Delaware and her Ph.D. in speech communication from the University of Georgia. Her publications include over a dozen peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles appearing in such journals as Communication Monographs, Argumentation and Advocacy, Communication Studies, Western Journal of Communication, and Communication Quarterly. Her dissertation, "Intrapersonal Consequences of Another’s Jealousy Expression: Toward a Reaction Model of Jealousy in Close Relationships" received the 2003 Interpersonal Communication Division Dissertation Award from the International Communication Association. She has also been awarded three top student paper awards in health and interpersonal communication and three top four interpersonal communication paper awards at national and regional communication conventions. Her husband is Gordon Stables, the Director of Debate at USC.

Her research interests center upon interpersonal communication and interpersonal influence in close relationships. Specific research topics include the understanding and negotiation of difficult interactions such as ongoing interpersonal conflict, jealousy expression, sexual resistance, topic avoidance, and relational reconciliation. She has examined these topics in romantic, friend, and family relationships. Currently, she is refining and expanding her consequence model of partner jealousy expression, which was first tested in her dissertation research and published in Communication Reports in April 2006.
