Influence of community-based groups on television broadcasters in five eastern cities: An exploratory story
Book Chapter
Abstract
This chapter explores the relationship between selected citizens’ groups and television broadcasters in five major cities in which these groups were able to reach agreements with individual stations. The study includes interviews with citizen group and television station representatives in Rochester, New York, Boston, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh, as well as the analysis of employment data and station files. The article is an effort to address the dearth of studies that assess the long-range effects of activist and advocacy group activities.
