Biography
Diana Nastasia earned a B.A. in Modern Languages and Literatures (1995), a B.A. in Philosophy (1997), and an M.A. in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory (1996), all from the University of Bucharest, Romania. She is working toward a Ph.D. in Literary Theory at the University of Bucharest, and a Ph.D. in Communication at the University of North Dakota.
In her home country, Diana Nastasia was a lecturer then an assistant professor at the Romanian-American University and at the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest. She published two communication studies handbooks and several articles in national journals, and was an associate editor of the Romanian Review of Communication and Public Relations.
Diana Nastasia came to the United States as a Fulbright visiting researcher at the University of North Dakota in 2002, and has been a Ph.D. student at this university since 2003. Her research interests include communication theory, critical studies in communication, community communication, international/intercultural communication, and feminist scholarship. She has been a graduate assistant at the School of Communication, and an assistant, intern, and volunteer of the Center for Community Engagement. She has served in the Campus Steering Committee of the Center for Community Engagement, and as the President of the University of North Dakota Chapter of the Association for Women in Communication.
Diana Nastasia has been an active member of the National Communication Association (NCA), the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), and the International Communication Association (ICA), presenting at annual conferences, serving as a reviewer, and taking leadership positions. Diana Nastasia was a graduate liaison for the Cultural and Critical Studies Division of AEJMC, as well as a member of the Student Affairs Committee and a candidate for Student Board Member of ICA.
