Description

Faculty specialties range from interpersonal communication, group dynamics, persuasion, and cultural/media studies to documentary film making; from international communication and journalism history to video production; from news reporting and writing to the political economy of the media; from health communication, ethics, and gender to the Internet.

Students can participate in a variety of internships as well as in on-campus student media--The Santa Clara newspaper, The Redwood yearbook, and KSCU radio.

Every communication student completes both production (hands-on) and theory courses and graduates with research and expressive skills. Students participate in community-based learning through the Arrupe Center at several stages in the curriculum. In addition, each student completes a senior thesis or capstone course. Qualified students may join the Santa Clara chapter of the national Communication Honor Society.

Graduates work in every sector of the communication industry in every part of the country. Other graduates use their communication degree as a basis for graduate study, law school, teaching, and business.
