Biography
Ariel Dougherty has forty years experience working for feminist media, independent and cultural organizations building mechanism and capacity for change. As a producer and mentor she has stimulated and enabled thousands of women, especially, to step forward to tell stories in their own voices in various medium. As a co-founder of Women Make Movies (1969), she created one of the more sustaining organizations of the Women Liberation Movement. Now her attention has turned to the vastly under funded broader field of women’s media, collaborating with several hundred media justice organizations to establish a sustainable funding arm that ensures long term growth of feminist media.
