The Amsterdam School of Communications Research ASCoR at the University of Amsterdam is celebrating its 10 year anniversary in 2007. Communication science research has been conducted at the University of Amsterdam for more than six decades with the appointment of Kurt Baschwitz in 1947 as Lector of Press, public opinion and propaganda as one of the decisive moments. In 1997, ASCoR became the institute for communication science research at the University of Amsterdam. The Amsterdam School of Communications Research ASCoR, is a research institute in Communication Science, residing in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. It is the largest research institute of its kind in Europe and is among the largest worldwide. More than 50 senior researchers are permanently associated with ASCoR, and its English-language Ph.D. program hosts more than 30 students.
