Biography

Aimée Vega Montiel Ph. D. is researcher at the Feminist Research Program, Professor and the Coordinator of the foreign graduate program of Communication studies, at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She has degrees from the UNAM and the UAB, she is a specialist of Gender and Communication studies, with interest in Political Communication and Reception analysis. She has coordinated various books. She has published in the areas of content, reception and regulation.

   She is currently working on issues of Women’s Human Rights, Communication and Information and their implications for regulation. Her recognition as a researcher, have made her an expert with the Council for the Equality of Gender in Media and with the Newtork of Researchers for the Human Rights of Women.

   She has been president of the Asociación Mexicana de Investigadores de la Comunicación, where she is currently responsible of the Research Coordination, as well as of the Asociación Mexicana de Derecho a la Información. Along with José Marques de Melo, she has promoted the organization of various activities to impulse the cooperation between latin-american researchers. She is a member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).  She is currently organizing the 2009 IAMCR Conference.
