What's on the Media Research Hub?

Collaborative Grants support partnerships between academic researchers and advocates. Grants are awarded through open competitions, held several times per year. The SSRC awarded six grants totaling $180,000 in September 2007.

The Data Consortium for Media and Communications Policy works for the principle that public policy should be made with publicly-available data—a condition mostly absent from contemporary media and communications policymaking.

The Resource Database is a community-editable field-mapping tool for linking people, institutions, research materials, networks, and projects--and the relationships between them.

Commentary: an aggregated media and technology blog on news, resources, research, and policy.

News and Events: selected news, conferences, internship offers and other opportunities in the field. To submit an item, contact mediahub@ssrc.org .

Using the Resource Database

Adding your profile to the Resource Database is a good way to signal your work to others.   Getting started is simple...

Steps:

(1) Create an account and log in.

(2) Go to the Resource Database

(3) Add yourself to the database.  If you're already there, it will tell you!

(4) Click edit at the bottom of your profile to update and expand the profile -- institutional affiliations, publications, projects, and so on.  If, for example, you've added your profile and that of your institution, you can connect them via the 'add association' button on the profile edit pages.

(5) 'Claim' your profile in My Workspace.  Now, only you can change your basic personal information.

(6) Add or Edit other profiles to enrich the community map.
